It's Kind of a Funny Story

I just read the book It's Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini. I really enjoyed this book. It is about a fifteen year old boy named Craig who is living with clinical depression. Craig begins to see a therapist when he realizes he is depressed and she puts him on anti-depressants. Craig decides to stop taking the medication without consulting with his therapist. Soon, Craig starts having suicidal thoughts and decides one night that he is going to kill himself. The night that he is going to kill himself he decides instead to call a suicide hotline. The people there direct him to go to the mental hospital that is down the street from Craig's house. Craig goes there and admits himself. During his 5 day stay he meets very interesting characters that help him get through his depression. I found this book relevent to my life because I am around Craig's age and am going through the same things as Craig. I would recommend this book to anyone that is around the ages of 15-16 and older.

Chains by Laurie Halse Anderson

It makes you think about the irony of Patriots fighting for their freedom from England yet not having a problem with owning slaves who didn't have their freedom. I wonder how many things we believe as Americans are a result of the time period we live in. How would we feel if we lived in 1776? What things do we do now that future generations would be shocked by?

The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks

The Lucky One" by Nicholas Sparks was the best ook I have read in a
while. It was told from the point of view of three characters:

Logan Thibault- walked to Hampton, North Carolina in search of a girl
in a picture.

Beth- a 29 years old woman and the girl in the picture.

Keith Clayton- Beth's ex-husband. His family owns almost every
business in town.

Thibault walk to Hampton, North Carolina from Colorado after his third
tour in Iraq for one reason-a single picture of a girl that he found
buried in the sand. His best friend Victor convinces him that it is
lucky and that he owes the girl something, but he doesn't know what.
After he arrives in Hampton, he beings working at Beth grandmother's
dog training school and falls in love with Beth. Through all of this,
he keeps the picture a secret. Beth knows that he is keeping something
from her. Will this make or break their relationship and what does
Keith Clayton have to do with the story? Read and find out!
